The Obama campaign released a new ad Sunday blasting Republicans for shutting down the government in an attempt to defund the Affordable Care Act.

The ad, titled “It’s the Wrong Time to Shut Down the Government,” was designed to contrast the Republican strategy of threatening to shut down the federal government to Democrats’ pledge to keep it open, the campaign said.

“This is a dangerous time for the country,” the narrator says in the video.

“And it’s the wrong time to shut the government down.

The Obama campaign said it will release more videos over the next few weeks that highlight Republicans’ tactics and what the President and the President-elect have said about the shutdown.”

Our goal is to build a stronger economy and a stronger middle class,” the campaign added.

The White House on Sunday accused Republicans of using the shutdown as an opportunity to “pump up their own candidate, Mitt Romney, against President Obama.””

Republicans have argued that shutting down government funding would allow the government to run out of money and force Americans to seek cheaper insurance options.”

The facts are quite clear: The president was trying his best to protect the people of the United States, and the fact that the shutdown was a partisan political ploy does not change that fact.”

Republicans have argued that shutting down government funding would allow the government to run out of money and force Americans to seek cheaper insurance options.

The shutdown began late Friday and was expected to last into Monday, but lawmakers have agreed to extend it until Wednesday.

Democrats have repeatedly said they will continue to fund the government through September, but the White House said Sunday that Republicans would not be able to agree on any extension without the White Congress’s agreement.
